Simulated crepitus and its reality-based specification using wearable patient dummy

چکیده
Physical therapists are trained in manual examination techniques to test the impaired motor functions of patients. In this study, we have introduced a wearable robotic dummy joint to simulate disordered joint resistances or behaviors to support physical therapists in learning such techniques. We developed a discontinuous joint friction model based on a stick-slip phenomenon to simulate knee joint resistances caused by crepitus, a typical symptom accompanied by osteoarthritis. Practicing therapists participated in a reality-based evaluation test and specified acceptable parameter sets to adjust the simulated crepitus for the exoskeletal patient robot. The simulated crepitus and wearable dummy joint are expected to support the training of physical therapists. keywords: Rehabilitation, Patient dummy, Wearable robot

Developing a Wearable Assistant for Hospital Ward Rounds: An Experience Report
We describe the results of a three year effort to develop, deploy, and evaluate a wearable staff support system for hospital ward rounds. We begin by describing elaborate workplace studies and staff interviews and the resulting requirements. We then present a wearable system developed on the basis of those requirements. It consists of a belt worn PC (QBIC) for the doctor, wrist worn acceleromet...
متن کاملA New Nonlinear Specification of Structural Breaks for Money Demand in Iran
In a structural time series regression model, binary variables have been used to quantify qualitative or categorical quantitative events such as politic and economic structural breaks, regions, age groups and etc. The use of the binary dummy variables is not reasonable because the effect of an event decreases (increases) gradually over time not at once. The simple and basic idea in this paper i...
